Chinese game development firm UltiZenGames has announced its acquisition of Red Entertainment, a Tokyo-based developer behind games such as Sakura Wars. Red Entertainment will be co-developing smartphone and online games with its parent company. In fact, the unified companies so far have five projects lined up for development. Ultizen has noted that Red Entertainment will continue the development of its own intellectual properties and utilize the parent company’s game creating capacity.
Red Entertainment started in 1984 as Red Company and is best known for its work on the Sakura Wars and the Far East of Eden role-playing game series across numerous consoles.
Ultizen is a Chinese development and outsourcing firm, which runs the local Web game platform U-Pal, currently employs 400 staff members, and owns three other studios in Shanghai, Beijing, and Suzhou. Financial terms for the acquisition were not available.
